The Milford Chess Club meets Thursday nights
from 7:30-11 at the Margaret
Egan Recreation
Center in room 155.
We have about a dozen players.
We have a Facebook page.
Directions to
the Margaret Egan Center,
the home of the Milford Chess Club
Coming from either Stamford
or New Haven, take
I-95 exit 34. The exit ramp is dangerous because after you get around the
curve, another lane of cars merges into it(but usually there is nobody coming),
and you want to get into the right hand lane of the exit ramp because at the
end of the exit ramp, you turn right onto route one(also called New Haven Ave).
Route One is two lanes in both directions, and
you want to be in the left hand lane because at the third light you turn left
onto Naugatuck Ave.
You can't miss the turn because at this intersection the left hand lane
is only for people making left hand turns. Less than a mile down Naugatuck Ave there
is a traffic light. After the traffic light, but before you get to the
VFW (100 yards) there is a small road on the right, Matthew St. It's easy to miss
because it looks like its part of the VFW parking lot. But there, on the
corner of Matthew and Naugatuck, is a little
blue sign that says Margaret
Egan Center.
If you go past the VFW, you have gone too far, turn around. At the
end of Matthew St.
is the Margaret Egan Recreation
Center, which used to be
an elementary school and still looks like an elementary school. There is
some parking across the street and a lot of parking in back. The chess
club meets in room 155, the northwest corner of the first floor.
